SERVICES
We at Cockatoo Downs are dedicated to using positive reinforcement training techniques to change your parrot's behavior through the most positive, least intrusive methods possible. We can help you eliminate unwanted behaviors and to shape and encourage desirable behaviors in your companion parrot. Force, coercion or punishment is never used.
Cockatoo Downs offers a variety of training and parrot management services to accomplish your goals. We offer consultations and workshops in the following:
Parrot Behavior Management
- Identify problem behaviors and learn training strategies to manage and change those behaviors.
Clicker Training
- Learn how to modify a parrot's behavior and create trust using a clicker and positive reinforcement.
- Clicker training is a training method that relies on rewarding desirable behavior. The behavior is marked using a mechanical device that makes a distinct 'click' sound. This tells the parrot exactly when she is doing the right thing. After the click, the trainer rewards the parrot with a favorite treat. Clicker training is a fun, effective training tool for both the trainer and the parrot.
Environmental Management
- Create a secure, safe, and pleasing parrot enclosure (indoors and outdoors) with proper caging, cage location, perch use, toys, and foraging devices.
Parrot Diet and Husbandry
- Develop a healthy parrot diet. Learn proper husbandry skills and needs for the well being of your parrot.
Parrot Flight Training
- Recognize the pros and cons of living with a flying companion parrot. Learn to train your parrot to fly successfully indoors or outdoors.
Pamela Clark will be joining Chris in presenting parrot care and training workshops. At the workshops, we will discuss parrot nutrition, living environments, and social relationships, while recommending improvements using the most positive, least intrusive methods to insure those improvements are reached.
